The doctor of the Institute of Public Health, Eugena Tomini, has spoken about the situation which has caused quite a bit of panic around the world, that of the human metapneumovirus in China.
She said that it is not something new, as it has been circulating before in the world, it has its symptoms but without causing a state of panic.
" The epidemiological situation has apparently put all international structures on alert regarding the appearance of the metapneumovirus in China. It is not a new virus, it has been circulating around the world since 2001.
There is no room for panic as we are in a season where viruses are most pronounced and it makes it difficult for the health system to deal with cases that require outpatient treatment ", said Tomini in "Euronews Albania".
Dokotresha also focused on the metapneumovirus in our country as she emphasized that Albania was also affected by this virus last year.
" In Albania, its presence was confirmed earlier, but last year there were confirmed cases of this virus. As for the symptoms, there is no line that separates the flu from covid or metapneumovirus. Respiratory viruses give the same symptoms, such as temperature, cough, dry throat, runny nose, i.e. flu-like symptoms of Covid-19.
A laboratory diagnosis separates whether it is a Covid flu or a metapneumovirus. The latter gives complications, especially in young and middle-aged people, these complications turn into pneumonia and into fatalities ", said Dr. Tomini.
