The United States is trying to calm the anger that sparked tensions and protests around the world after last week's explosion at Ahli Hospital in Gaza.
The greatest indignation centered on Israel, as many considered the Palestinian militant group Hamas' accusation that it was Israel to have carried out the airstrike on the hospital to be a fact, calling the incident a "genocide massacre".
But Washington has rejected this claim, publicly sharing the initial estimates of the American discovery, while with the governments of various countries it has also shared details according to which the rocket that hit the hospital in Gaza was not from Israel.
"We have shared analysis with many of our partners around the world," a senior US intelligence official told reporters, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the incident.
"So far the data we have provided has been strong," the official added. "I think we will send additional information over time."
It is unclear, at this point, how much impact intelligence sharing has.
Jordan and Egypt last week canceled a meeting with US President Joe Biden in Amman, blaming Israel for the blast. The incident continues to feature prominently in pro-Palestinian demonstrations around the world.
"One of the things our diplomats have been asking ... is for the intelligence community to do more to present our conclusions," the senior official said.
This request was not only from American diplomats.
"There has been a lot of interest in the Gaza hospital explosion and conflicting accounts of what happened," a second senior US official told VOA.
"The US government has worked to be able to share as much information as we can in the interest of transparency."
The tactic of declassifying and sharing this type of sensitive US intelligence information is increasingly part of US policy.
American officials did this most notably at the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine in February 2022.
In the case of last week's explosion at Ahli Hospital, US intelligence officials believe there is compelling evidence to exonerate Israel.
Based on information obtained from many different sources, including satellite images, data on missile activity and intercepted communications, as well as videos and photographs that have already been released, US intelligence officials have reached the "highly credible" conclusion. that Israel was not responsible for the Gaza hospital explosion.
"There are two main reasons," said another US intelligence official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity.

"There is additional audio provided to us by the Israelis that has been carefully verified and determined to be an authentic communication by Palestinian militants. ... The language models have been evaluated and determined to be authentic", according to the official.
Palestinian Islamic Jihad has denied that it fired the rocket that hit Ahli Hospital.
US officials say that if new information comes to light, they will look into that as well.
"This case is not closed for us," said the senior US intelligence official. "If we receive additional information that would lead in a different direction, we will report that as well." /VOA
