The vagaries of the weather, the almost daily fires in homes and businesses and recently earthquakes have brought back to us the danger that threatens every property we own.
But despite the fact that Albania, due to its geographical position, is among the countries most at risk from natural disasters, a minimal awareness of the importance of insurance is still observed among citizens.
In an interview for Top News, CEO of SIGAL UNIQA Group Austria, Mr. Avni Ponari, stated that, based on these data, Property Insurance against these risks is a necessity and something that the whole world does.
" The presence of fires today has become a phenomenon that can be called common. On the other hand, both the floods and the earthquakes of the last few days show again what we have always said: Albania is in the world atlas for obvious risks such as fires, earthquakes and other disasters.
On this basis, what I would say is that citizens should choose a path that is necessary and universal, insurance.
Insurance does not prevent these events, insurance reduces the damage. They restore them financially to their previous state.
So, when we talk and draw attention, with the conviction that people should know that there is an option to protect the house from fire, there is an option to protect the house from earthquake. Or to protect the house from floods. And these are done through insurance that is so necessary and so universal ," he said.
The founder and CEO of the largest insurance company in Albania also tells us how much Home Insurance costs.
" But is it difficult to insure? Of course not! What are the insurance costs? Of course they are small!
The moment has come that every person must have determined in his conscience a very small expense for Home Insurance, either from fire, from earthquake, or from other risks. And the cost is 1 euro per year per square meter. So it's a pretty small cost. People don't know what that means.
If an apartment is 100 square meters, the maximum insurance is about 100 euros per year. And you are protected from fire, earthquake, and other disasters ," Ponari added.
At the end of the interview, Mr. Ponari has an appeal for the citizens: " I want to tell every citizen that it is possible to do this because it costs 50 cents a day or less. And to be safe in the days of future with the hard-earned wealth ".
