The head of the Road Traffic Sector, Kreshnik Skëndo, said that accidents with material damage have been reported, while he appealed to drivers to be careful.
He emphasizes that in Dardë and Voskopojë you can only go with chains and winter tires.
The most dangerous axes are Qafë Thana, Qafë Plloça and Qafë e Qarri.
"Thank you for responding to the call of the Traffic Police to inform the drivers of this unusual situation in the Korça region. The whole district of Korça has been engulfed by high-intensity snowfall and fortunately, until now, we have not had any damage, except for a few minor accidents with material damage. I want to make an appeal to drivers to use winter tires, chains to travel, drive slowly and very carefully and avoid unnecessary movements in this bad weather. They should also not use mobile phones and even more alcoholic beverages.
The most dangerous axes are Qafë Thana, Qafë Plloça and Qafë e Qarri, the others present a slightly lower risk but not that they are not dangerous. The contracting firms are all at work, the vehicles continue to circulate and there have been no blockages on any road axis of the Korca district. I must mention Dardha and Voskopoja, which are frequented by vacationers, can only be crossed with chains and winter tires.
The entire traffic police sector is 100% at work and we will work with extended hours until this bad weather situation passes", Skëndo said.
