A large-scale fire broke out today at the Bushati landfill, causing a problematic situation in the area.
The Prefect of Shkodra District Institution announces that the fire continues to be active, while the flames are being favored by the wind, while adding that the situation is being managed and kept under control by the responsible structures on the ground.
Around 20 firefighters with three vehicles were involved in the intervention, in collaboration with landfill workers and the Municipal Police. The operation was also supported by units from the municipalities of Shkodër, Lezhë, Tirana and Kamëz, ensuring extensive inter-institutional coordination.
In parallel, heavy equipment such as excavators and trucks are being used to isolate the fire and limit its spread. Water supply continues uninterrupted through tankers deployed in the area.
According to authorities, the fire involved urban debris and, at this stage, does not pose a risk to surrounding homes.
