The fire situation in our country continues to be problematic.
This evening, a fire engulfed an area of land on a hill near the village of Drashovicë in the Municipality of Selenica.
The flames are in difficult terrain, while strong winds favor their spread to larger areas.
The fire in Drashovica is threatening a nearby farm. Meanwhile, another fire was reported this Thursday evening near the village of Dukat.
Several fires are also active in the municipality of Fushë Arrëz. In addition to two fires that have been burning for 10 days, on Thursday afternoon a fire broke out in the pine forests near the village of Kryezi, endangering homes.
The situation in Kryezi was considered serious by local authorities who requested air intervention, which was not possible.
The Municipality of Fushë-Arrëz was forced to withdraw some of the forces engaged in the fires near the village of Xath, concentrating them near the village of Kryezi, while residents of the villages of Kryezi and Orosh, as well as a team from the Puka fire service and several trucks provided by private companies, came to the aid of firefighters and forest service employees.
Currently, the intensity of the flames has decreased, but the forces engaged continue monitoring in order to prevent the fire from spreading towards the villages of Kryezi and Orosh in the Qafë Mali administrative unit.
