
A Turkish tanker carrying crude oil has been targeted by a drone attack in the Black Sea, near Istanbul, NTV television reported.
According to the source, the attack on the M/T Altura occurred about 15 nautical miles off the Bosphorus Strait. Marine tracking data shows that the Suezmax tanker was fully loaded with about 1 million barrels of Russian Urals crude oil, departing from the port of Novorossiysk.
The Altura ship is under sanctions by the United Kingdom and the European Union, while it is not included in the United States sanctions lists.
According to Turkish shipping portal HaberDenizde, an explosion was recorded on the ship's bridge, while water entered the engine room. There are no reports of injuries so far.
