21 killed by Israeli attacks in Gaza, ceasefire talks in Qatar

Israeli airstrikes killed at least 21 people, two of them children, as a new effort continued in Qatar for ceasefire talks after nearly 15 months of war.

Thousands of people rallied again in Israel demanding a ceasefire deal, hours after Hamas released a video showing one of the hostages still being held in Gaza.

Three airstrikes in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis hit a car, a house and people on the street, according to staff at Nasser Hospital.

Civil Defense, a rapid intervention force linked to the Hamas-run government, said an airstrike destroyed a residential area behind the Saraya compound in Gaza City, killing at least five people.

Israeli strikes on Saturday evening killed three people in Bureij and three others in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, where the bodies were taken. A child was among the dead.

The Israeli military said it had targeted Hamas militants with an attack near Salah al-Din in southern Gaza overnight and an attack on a vehicle in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.

Gaza's Ministry of Health announced at least 59 people have been killed and more than 270 others have been injured in attacks in the past 24 hours.

US officials say Washington plans to sell $8 billion worth of weapons to Israel.
