Will we have a ceasefire in the Middle East? Iran turns to Qatar and Oman to

As Israeli attacks against Iran continue, Tehran has turned to covert diplomatic channels, seeking the help of regional mediators in an effort to stop the fighting and revive negotiations.

Sources familiar with the matter said Iran has turned to Oman and Qatar to act as mediators with the United States, hoping to broker a ceasefire that would end Israel's military offensive.

In parallel, Saudi Arabia has also been involved in diplomatic efforts behind the scenes, quietly working to create conditions for a reduction in tensions and a possible resumption of talks. The multiple mediation tracks highlight growing international concern over the ongoing conflict, which threatens to escalate further and destabilize the region.

However, US officials have made it clear that Washington remains firm on its terms: any diplomatic breakthrough would require Iran to agree to a complete halt to its uranium enrichment activities.

" We remain committed to talks and hope that the Iranians will sit down at the negotiating table soon ," a senior US administration official said on Saturday.

So far, Iran has rejected Washington's conditions. An Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman stated: "As long as the Israeli regime's attacks on the Iranian nation continue, participating in talks with its biggest supporter and partner (the US) will be meaningless."

The statement underscores Tehran's insistence that any negotiations must be linked to an immediate halt to Israeli military actions.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials continue to closely monitor diplomatic developments but remain skeptical about Iran's willingness to compromise. Israeli sources have indicated that discussions are already underway with senior Trump administration officials in the US, raising the possibility of deeper American involvement if negotiations fail.
