After a weekend filled with viral speculation about the health and whereabouts of the US President, Donald Trump himself came out with a statement on his Truth Social platform, where he wrote: "I have never felt better in my life."
But what forced Trump to react?
The president had not spoken publicly since a cabinet meeting on August 26. As of Friday, regular White House observers began noting that Trump had not been seen in public again, and he had no activities planned over the weekend.
An American journalist published on the X platform that the president had no public appearances planned, and this post went viral, with over 33 million views.
A sudden explosion of Google searches like “Is Donald Trump still alive?” and hashtags like #WhereIsTrump began circulating en masse. Various theories, some of them alarmist, claimed a health crisis for the President, reaching millions of views online.
Despite the speculation, Trump has been active on Truth Social all week. A reporter for The Daily Caller even posted a photo of the president, which she said she took before an interview on Friday. “He’s very lively,” said reporter Reagan Reese.
On Saturday morning, four days after his last public appearance, news agencies published photos of the president leaving the White House to go to a golf course in Virginia.
But the conspiracy theories didn't stop.
The situation was further complicated when a video showing Trump greeting supporters on the golf course circulated as "new," even though the video was originally released in June.
On Sunday, Trump was photographed again heading to the golf course, and finally decided to react publicly with a post on Truth Social where he denied the rumors.
Today is Labor Day in the US, a federal holiday, and according to the presidential agenda, no public activities are planned.
