A group of British activists placed a photograph of Prince Andrew after his arrest on the premises of the Louvre Museum in Paris, in a symbolic act that, according to them, aims to show "how the world will remember" the former Duke of York.
The anti-billionaire group “Everyone Hates Elon” hung the photo on a wall of the museum. Under the frame, activists placed the inscription “Now he’s sweating.” The image shows Prince Andrew sitting in the back seat of a Range Rover, exhausted, after leaving a police station in Norfolk. The photo was previously made public by British media in the context of legal developments related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
In a video posted on Instagram, the group shows the moment they put up the photo with the caption: " They said 'Hang it in the Louvre.' And that's what we did."
According to Reuters, museum staff removed the photo about 15 minutes later.
In a statement to Reuters, the group said: "We wanted to show the former Prince Andrew how he will be remembered by the public by placing this iconic photo of his arrest in the Louvre. We hope this is just the beginning. Justice for all Epstein survivors."
Prince Andrew has faced criticism and public backlash over his links to American financier Jeffrey Epstein. In 2022, he reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual abuse, allegations he has consistently denied. The settlement does not constitute an admission of guilt.
