The Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, is expected to make a decision tomorrow on whether or not to resign, as his wife is accused of corruption.
According to The Guardian, Sanchez is reflecting on his future.
"Now that we've reached this point, the question I'm quite legitimately asking myself is: is it all worth it? I honestly don't know. I have to stop and think about it", writes the Prime Minister in his letter.
Sánchez insisted that his wife is innocent and openly accused the conservative People's Party (PP) and the far-right party Vox of collaborating with Manos Limpias and the media to attack him. He called it an attempt to bring about his "personal and political collapse" by attacking the woman.
Sánchez's letter, which he is believed to have written on his own without consulting his advisers, has been described by his allies as personal, written by a man blinded by love and defense against attacks on his wife, which have escalated in recent years.
"We often forget that there are people behind politicians. I am not ashamed to say that I am a man who is deeply in love with his wife and who has to live with the impotence to see all the mud thrown at her every day," the Prime Minister wrote.
