A new, stronger storm has hit Slovenia, it is moving towards the southeast of the country and is currently over the marshes of Ljubljana, south of the capital. The storm is accompanied by heavy rains, strong winds and hail are possible, announced the Slovenian environmental agency ARSO.
"A new stronger storm hit Slovenia, it started from Gornji Posočje and reached the hills of Poljanska dolina, Žir and Polhograj. A storm with stronger downpours during which stronger winds and hailstorms are possible is moving towards the southeast", writes ARSO.
The Information Center for State Roads has said that due to strong storms and hail, drivers are not recommended to move on the axis Brezovica - Vërhnika.
According to radar images, a new storm is coming from the direction of Bovšek, moving southeast.
The damage caused by more than 36 hours of heavy rain in Slovenia will exceed 500 million euros, Prime Minister Robert Golob said today, reports Slovenia Times.
Speaking to reporters after the National Security Council was briefed on the situation on August 5, Golob said two-thirds of the country was affected by the worst natural disaster to hit the country in 30-plus years. At least three people have died as a result of heavy rain and flooding in Slovenia.
