Iran has warned that it could soon take unprecedented military action if the United States continues its naval blockade of its ports, according to a report by Iranian state television Press TV.
Citing a “senior security source,” the state channel said that the lack of an immediate Iranian response so far has been an attempt to give diplomacy a chance. However, the source stressed that if Iran’s conditions are rejected, the US “should expect a different kind of response soon” to the ongoing naval blockade.
According to Press TV, Iran is ready for “practical and unprecedented military action” in response to what it calls US “maritime piracy.”
Recall that the US naval blockade of Iranian ports took effect on April 13, 2026, after the failure of direct peace talks between Tehran and Washington. The stated goal of the US administration is to increase economic pressure on Iran by prohibiting ships from entering and leaving Iranian ports, including those in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
The Iranian military and the Khatam al-Anbiya central command have repeatedly warned that continuing the blockade would be considered a violation of the ceasefire and would face a harsh response. Some Iranian officials have also warned that if Iranian ports are threatened, no port in the Persian Gulf or the Sea of Oman will remain safe.
