Despite the enthusiasm that has erupted in Washington regarding the meeting between President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, the situation in Ukraine appears tepid.
Beyond Zelensky's somewhat strained thanks to Trump and the US, Ukrainians seem to be distrustful of this US-Russia summit.
A Ukrainian MP, in an interview with 'Sky News', said he has "no high expectations" ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with Vladimir Putin tomorrow in Alaska.
"We have had a number of similar emotions, five or six times before when Trump announced personal contacts with Putin. All these efforts brought nothing, absolutely nothing," said Andrii Osadchuk.
He further pointed out that after every phone call with Trump, Putin would launch missiles at Kiev and other Ukrainian cities.
Osadchuk explained that he "certainly welcomes" Trump's efforts to end the war in Ukraine, but said he was not very optimistic about the upcoming talks.
