The European emissary for dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, claims that the European Union is preparing for rapid progress regarding the talks between Pristina and Belgrade, immediately after the elections in Kosovo, which will be held in February 2025.
Lajçak said that no progress is expected before the parliamentary elections in Kosovo. However, he has warned of progress after the 2025 elections.
"I want to be realistic, Kosovo is going to elections in February. The EU is in a transition process. Thus, he asked me to extend the mandate precisely to guarantee the continuation during this process.
The process is continuing, we have had meetings at the level of chief negotiators. But our political and personal experience shows that you cannot expect progress before the elections, but we are preparing for rapid progress immediately after the elections", said the Slovak diplomat during the "2BS" forum.
