US President Donald Trump has issued a new ultimatum to Russia over the war in Ukraine, stating that Moscow has just 10 days to agree to a ceasefire deal.
Speaking from Air Force One, Trump said that if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not accept a ceasefire within the deadline, the US will impose tariffs and other punitive economic measures.
" I don't know if it's going to affect Russia, because he (Putin) seems to want to continue the war. But we're going to put tariffs and other measures in place, and it may or may not have an effect, but it could have an effect ," Trump said.
Asked if the ultimatum had prompted any reaction from Moscow, the US president replied: "I haven't received any response. It's unfortunate."
The new presidential plane
During the trip, Trump also talked about the new presidential jet, a luxury aircraft donated by Qatar and being adapted for use by the president.
" They say short, maybe. Much faster than other aircraft that are being built ," he said.
The cost of adapting the plane has not been made public and is classified as national security information, but US lawmakers have speculated it could be as much as $1 billion. According to ABC News, the donation of the plane was made without conditions on what will happen to it after Trump leaves office.
