According to recent reports, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is seriously considering replacing Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan with an equally powerful name, the current head of the Turkish Intelligence Service (MIT), Ibrahim Kalin.
The news was initially reported by the daily Sözcü, through renowned journalist Mustafa Balbay, who emphasizes that this move is part of Erdogan's effort to alleviate domestic pressures, but also to reformat Ankara's diplomatic profile in the international arena.
According to Balbay, Fidan's position has been shaken, especially after his statements about the American engines of Turkish KAAN fighter jets, as well as due to the cold reactions in the Turkish media after the Erdogan-Trump meeting. These developments have sparked speculation about internal frustration over the diplomatic handling of some sensitive files.
