During the 4.5 hours of "Direct Line" with citizens, combined with the traditional end-of-year press conference, in which all of Moscow's supposed successes in 2025 were listed, there were no shortage of strange moments and occasional attacks on the Russian president.
Beyond the predictable answers on the conflict in Ukraine, when the alleged achievements of the Russian military were enumerated, Vladimir Putin also answered a series of unusual questions from ordinary people, who took advantage of the annual opportunity to ask him about any topic during the television marathon.
Citizens asked questions about love, to which Putin immediately responded. "I'm in love," said the Kremlin leader, who affirmed his belief in "love at first sight."
After the minutes dedicated to romance were over, Putin received strange questions and proposals: from Kristina who asked about aliens in space, to a teenager who wanted to know if the president ever wanders around Moscow, perhaps incognito, to gather information, and "yes," Putin replied, "sometimes."
Despite the Kremlin leader's portrayal of an idyllic situation for Russia, there was no shortage of rebukes and criticism. Of the 2.5 million questions from across the country, the moderators, as expected, avoided the most critical ones, but some appeared on the big screen behind the president's back.
