Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko warned today that the 90 billion euro loan approved by the European Union for the country's defense will not be enough to cover Ukraine's financial needs.
Marchenko called on international partners to continue work on a reparations loan, backed by frozen Russian assets located in Ukraine's allied countries.
" The reparations loan is a systemic and long-term solution. It will provide sustainable defense capabilities and protect Europe from future conflicts ," Marchenko said, according to a statement from Ukraine's Finance Ministry to the G7 countries.
He added that the risks to Europe from a possible loss of Ukraine far outweigh the risks of introducing the reparations mechanism.
The warning comes as the country continues to face huge costs for defense and rebuilding infrastructure during the conflict.
