The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said that the revival of the agreement with Russia on allowing the export of Ukrainian grains depends on the West.
He called on the countries of the West to keep their promises.
"I think that the solution can be found", said Erdogan today, referring to a previous telephone conversation with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, who refused to continue the agreement.
Turkey's president played a key role in brokering the now-broken agreement on the safe export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, and has positioned himself as a mediator in the conflict.
During the conversation with Putin on August 2, Erdogan emphasized the importance of the grain agreement, which he called a "bridge for peace". The deal, brokered by Turkey and the United Nations, allowed Ukraine to export grain through its Black Sea ports, but ended last month when Moscow withdrew from it.
Attacks in and around the Black Sea have increased since Russia refused to continue exporting Ukrainian grain by sea.
Russian drone attacks damaged grain facilities in the Ukrainian ports of Odesa and Izmail on the night of August 2.
As a result of the Russian strikes, a grain warehouse, grain silo and other grain warehouses were damaged or destroyed, Ukrainian officials said.
