The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, met his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vucic, with whom he discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, reports the Turkish news agency "Anadolu Agency".
Erdogan, according to the Turkish agency, said that relations between Turkey and Serbia have reached the highest point in history, adding that Turkey sees Serbia as a "key country" for peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
The Serbian president, through a post on his "Instagram" account, announced that he discussed with Erdogan the importance of maintaining peace in the region and Turkey's "constructive engagement" in this regard.
"We discussed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, where we count on the constructive engagement of Turkey, as one of the most influential international factors in this part of the world," wrote Vucic.
This meeting comes at the invitation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in honor of Hungary's founding day. Orbani is known as the main supporter of Vucic, especially in matters related to Kosovo.
The relations between the two populist and authoritarian leaders - the Hungarian prime minister and the Serbian president - have been cemented in warm relations that are characterized by frequent meetings between them.
Also, we recall that Turkey has sent additional troops to Kosovo at the request of NATO after violent clashes in the north of the country, where Serbian protesters have left 11 Italians and 19 Hungarians injured.
