European security and the possible impact of Donald Trump's return to the White House will be the subject of discussion between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, who will meet this Monday in Paris.
The focus of the talks will also be the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
On Ukraine, Starmer and Macron will discuss ways to support Ukrainian forces, ensuring they are in the best possible position ahead of the coming winter and the possibility of using long-range Storm Shadow missiles on Russian territory.
Their meeting comes at a time when the return of Trump has caused "fever" in Europe. The former US president has repeatedly criticized US military aid to Ukraine and has promised to end the war within a day.
Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported that Trump had communicated with Russian President Vladimir Putin, urging him not to further escalate the war, but the Kremlin has denied the existence of a call.
Also on the agenda for Macron and Starmer's discussions will be Trump's warning of a 20% tariff on US imports. Some economists have warned of the global impact of these tariffs, with a possible £22 billion hit to UK exports predicted.
