The Deputy Prime Minister of the Italian government, Matteo Salvini, has attacked French President Emmanuel Macron and his idea for a European army.
Salvini is against the idea of creating a European army, which he says would be led by a madman like Macron. He stressed that regarding the war in Ukraine, Italy is solid in its support for it, while stressing that they would not spend any more money on weapons.
" We reject the possibility of a European army under the command of a madman like Macron, who refers to nuclear war."
"As for the war in Ukraine, our government's line is solid. There is absolutely no chance that we will send our soldiers. There is no way that we will use Cohesion Fund funds to buy weapons, instead of developing different regions of our country ," Salvini said.
Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has spoken out in favor of supporting Ukraine, but believes that sending European soldiers is not an appropriate solution.
