Israeli woman recounts details of attack: Anyone who tried to escape was shot,

Gili Yoskovich was among hundreds of young people at a music festival in southern Israel, near the Gaza Strip, when gunmen opened fire in the early hours of Saturday morning as Palestinian militants launched a coordinated attack on Israel.

She described to the BBC how she hid under a tree while gunmen shot anyone they found.

"They were everywhere with automatic weapons. They stood near the cars and started shooting. The terrorists were coming from four or five countries, so we didn't know if we should go here, so I went back to my car.

Some shot at me. I left the car and started running, I saw a place with many trees and went there. So I found myself in the middle of this field and I was pretending. It was the second shelter I found and they were all around me.

They went from tree to tree and shot everywhere. I saw people dying around me. I was very calm. I didn't cry, I didn't do anything. But on the other hand, I would breathe and say: "Okay, I'm going to die." It's okay, breathe, close your eyes."

Then I heard the terrorists open a big van and take more weapons. I was sure the army was coming, I heard some helicopters, I was sure the army was going to come down with helicopters and ropes and go down to that field and rescue us. But no one was there. Just all these terrorists.

One of them was very close to me and my leg was shaking. I tried and did my best, I moved a little and when they were on this side I heard them speaking Arabic.

I tried to stay as low as possible under the tree so that maybe when they shot, they wouldn't touch my face. I stayed there for three hours. I was thinking about my children, my lover, everything, and I kept telling myself that it's not time to die, not yet.

Many people were dying on the way.

Anyone who tried to escape was shot by both sides. So it was better to hide. The craziest thing is how we were there for so long and no one was there. No army, no police. Nothing".
