Investigating Genocide and Humiliating Israel

Investigating Genocide and Humiliating Israel
Gaza

It was once a people that suffered a holocaust while now Israel is a state that will be investigated for genocide.

For years to come, Israel will face the humiliation of being investigated and tried for genocide at the UN's highest court. This is definitely a big blow to Israel.

The judges are so concerned about the possibility that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, they feel compelled to order it to do everything in its power to prevent it.

They also feel the need to prevent and punish any genocidal incitement by Israeli officials.

It is important to say that the judges are also "gravely concerned" about the fate of the Israeli hostages being held in Gaza and demand their immediate and unconditional release.

But they are also more concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza, which they say is catastrophic.

The Court's decision was made after investigating the plight of civilians in Gaza, thousands of dead and nearly two million residents who were forced to flee their homes.

Israel must take immediate and effective measures to enable the delivery of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, the decision said.

Critics of the Israeli government inside Israel and beyond say that much of this could have been avoided if more had been done by Netanyahu in his military offensive. If only he had provided more humanitarian aid, instead of forcing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to flee their homes and seek winter shelter in deplorable conditions.

If Israeli officials as well as the prime minister had refrained from repeated extreme statements referring to the destruction of Gaza, the country could have been spared much of the condemnation in the ruling.

The Israelis may claim that their words were taken out of rhetorical context or spoken in moments of extreme anxiety and trauma, but, in the scrutiny raised in the hearings of the International Court of Justice, they did much to damage Israel's case and the condemnation of his. /Adapted "Pamphlet" from "Sky News"
