A British-registered cargo ship has sunk in the Red Sea after the crew were forced to abandon ship due to an attack by Yemen's Houthi rebels.
The cargo ship Rubymar, which was abandoned in the southern Red Sea after being targeted by Yemen's Houthis on February 18, has sunk, a statement from Yemen's internationally recognized government said on Saturday.
The attack took place in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, 35 nautical miles south of Al Mukha, Yemen, on Sunday night, UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said, against a vessel later identified as the Rubymar.
The crew of the British-registered cargo ship, which measures 171.6 meters in length and 27 meters in width, was forced to 'abandon ship' after the attack, although the UKMTO said yesterday that all crew were safe and 'authorities are investigating'.
