The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a knife attack at a festival in Germany, where three people died and dozens were injured.
A security source told the IS-linked Amaq agency that the suspect "was a soldier of the Islamic State and he carried out the attack as revenge against Muslims in Palestine and everywhere."
Prosecutor Markus Caspers said authorities are still looking for the motive and the perpetrator.
There is no clear link between the people who were attacked, authorities said, and that is one reason terrorism cannot be ruled out.
A 56-year-old woman and two men, aged 56 and 67, died after the attack. Eight people were injured, four in serious condition, while "many other people suffered mental stress".
On Saturday evening, officers said they were carrying out an operation to break into a building housing asylum seekers in Solingen as part of their investigation.
