Questionable political and financial interests: Donald Trump expands his empire

At the start of his second presidential term, Trump is using political power to increase his private profits in countries like Saudi Arabia, India, Serbia and Oman, creating a network of dark influences that undermine the transparency of the American administration.

The Trump Organization is moving forward with an ambitious plan that includes 19 major real estate projects outside the United States, just as Donald Trump begins his second term as US president. An expansion that raises major concerns about conflicts of interest between politics and private businesses.

Trump, whose personal fortune was estimated at $6 billion in November 2024, has chosen to shift his main investments towards tourist and luxury destinations, as his New York businesses have suffered a sharp decline. One of his iconic properties, the "40 Wall Street" building, has 20% of its space vacant.

The Trump Organization's list of overseas projects includes luxury hotels and resorts in countries such as India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Indonesia, Oman and Serbia, tripling the current number of properties outside America.

In an effort to minimize criticism, the company released a so-called “Ethics Agreement” on January 10, 2025, promising to limit President Trump’s direct financial contacts with the business and to have outside counsel review any transactions over $10 million. But the agreement is more of a facade than a real barrier. The Trump Organization has pledged not to do business “directly with foreign governments,” but has left the door open for collaboration with private companies, which in fact depend on government approvals.

In Oman, Trump's company is building a resort and golf course in collaboration with a group led by the Omani government and wealthy investors from Dubai, a giant project worth millions of dollars, which aims to attract wealthy clients from China, Russia and Iran.

Saudi Arabia is also a strategic partner, with a Saudi company with close ties to the government collaborating on three giant projects. The Saudi sovereign wealth fund has even invested $2 billion in the company of Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law.

In India, the Trump Organization aims to build at least eight “Trump Towers,” making India the country with the largest number of Trump-branded properties outside the U.S. Frequent visits by U.S. officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, show a close connection between politics and business.

Meanwhile, in Serbia, where the conflict of interest is clearer, Donald Trump Jr. has declared open support for President Aleksandar Vučić, while the Trump Organization is planning to build a luxury hotel right on the ruins of the Ministry of Defense, bombed by NATO 26 years ago.

In this way, Trump appears to be using presidential power to advance the interests of his family business, thus raising serious doubts about the influence of American politics in the interests of his personal pockets. This strategy of international expansion of Trump businesses is a wake-up call for American democracy and the transparency of his administration. / Prepared by Pamphlet
