Iran has again rejected US President Donald Trump's ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran's tough stance on the proposed ceasefire plan was expressed by a senior Iranian official who spoke to Reuters.
"Tehran has received the proposal, but will not submit to ultimatums or pressure to make a decision. Tehran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary ceasefire and believes that America is not ready for a permanent ceasefire," the official said.
Both the United States and Iran have agreed on a two-tiered plan to end the war. The ceasefire plan is expected to be approved today, the source told Reuters, and a more permanent solution will follow.
It comes via Pakistan, the only country communicating with both sides in the talks, the source added.
Meanwhile, Iran has also confirmed that the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been killed, according to state media.
Donald Trump's Easter threat of foul language has made headlines. The US president warned over the weekend that he was prepared to strike Iranian power plants and bridges, telling Tehran: "Open the Strait of Hell, you crazy bastards, or you'll live in Hell."
Iran responded by saying the strait "will never return" to its previous state.
