Former CIA Director General David Petraeus warned Prigozhin to "be very careful with open windows."
The retired general, who spoke to CNN, was likely referring to Russian figures who died under unclear circumstances, including falling from windows.
To stop his Wagner mercenaries from marching on Moscow, Prigozhin has agreed to go into exile in neighboring Belarus, whose leader is a staunch ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
" Prigozhin saved his life, but he lost his Wagner group," Petraeus said. "And he should be very careful about the open windows in Belarus, where he is going ," he added.
Many of those who opposed or betrayed Putin died months or years later under mysterious circumstances, some even after leaving Russia.
