Israel has sentenced Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to death, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has confirmed.
"It can no longer be allowed to exist," Katz said, after the Soroka Hospital in southern Israel was hit during an Iranian missile attack, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.
Israel Katz told reporters in Holon near Tel Aviv that Khamenei openly declares that he wants Israel destroyed, he personally gives the order to hit hospitals.
"He considers the destruction of the state of Israel as a goal, such a man can no longer be allowed to exist," Katz said.
A key Iranian body warned the US on Thursday that any intervention in support of its ally, Israel, would face a "harsh response", Agence France-Presse (AFP) reports.
The Guardian Council said in a statement broadcast on state television that "the criminal American government and its foolish president should know for sure that if they make a mistake and take action against Islamic Iran, they will face a harsh response from the Islamic Republic of Iran."
