Two Russian comedians managed to talk on the phone with the Italian Prime Minister, deceiving her that they were representatives of Africa....
There is a lot of fatigue on all sides about the conflict in Ukraine and the moment is coming when everyone will understand that we need a way out, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni declared in a fake phone call with two Russian comedians, Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexey Stolyarov , one of whom allegedly passed himself off as an African politician.
"The problem is to find a way out acceptable to both sides without destroying international law," says the "African leader".
"I have some ideas on how to deal with this situation, but I am waiting for the right time to put them on the table", adds Meloni.
"Meloni was deceived on the phone by a person who managed to present himself as the president of the African Union through the diplomatic office of Palazzo Chigi", according to government circles.
But according to "Corriere Della Sera": "There are two serious things. The first is that a Russian comedian manages to talk on the phone with the Italian Prime Minister despite a considerable accent, making fun of the secretaries of the Palazzo Chigi and the staff of the most important office in the country. The second is that the companion of the head of the government found out about the joke yesterday, more than a month after the event.
Nothing else is talked about in diplomatic circles and those who talk about the Corriere know all the players in the story perfectly. But if the audio released yesterday by the two Russian comedians sparked a rumor mill and also a kind of hunt for the culprit, the good thing - and it's a fact - is that in over five minutes of conversation, Giorgia Meloni says essentially similar things, in a private context , with what he declares publicly: both for international relations and relations with allies, as well as for the migrant crisis.
Vovan & Lexus, the two famous Russian "comedians", actually targeted Giorgia Meloni: one of the two called the Italian Prime Minister on the phone and asked her about her foreign policy, pretending to be an African leader. Both have in the past "targeted" other international leaders, such as the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, the Danish Foreign Minister, Lars Lokke Rasmussen and the former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.
They have been accused of being close to the Kremlin's intelligence services, but they categorically deny it: "Since 2011, when we started our jokes, they say that we are connected to the Russian secret services or the Kremlin. But it is absolutely false. These are conspiracy theories - they say to LaPresse -. What interest could the Kremlin or the KGB have in making prank calls to movie stars or famous singers? Thinking there's someone behind us is just the easiest way to think we've managed to make fun of famous people. But we're just two guys who found a way to joke around with these important people."
Vovan and Lexus, known as Vladimir Kuznetsov and Aleksej Stolyarov, do not intend to tell how they managed to find Prime Minister Meloni's number: "We have our own method, a procedure studied and improved over the years like magicians. Also not to put the people who help us in these jokes in difficulties".
Yesterday, a few hours after the publication of the audio, Palazzo Chigi issued a note in which the responsibility for what happened was charged to the diplomatic office, headed by Ambassador Franceso Talò. This is the text of the note: "The Office of the Diplomatic Adviser to the President of the Council of Ministers expresses its regret that it was deceived by an impostor who claimed to be the president of the African Union Commission and who was put in telephone contact with the president, Giorgia Meloni. The episode took place on September 18 in the context of the intensive engagement developed in those hours by President Meloni to strengthen relations with African leaders, with whom she had important meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly between September 19 and 21. .
It is not known who personally handled the phone call from Russia, but perhaps it was hidden, in terms of derivation, with an African phone card. Sure enough, a secretary to the self-styled president of the African Union Commission spoke to an Italian diplomat working at Palazzo Chigi. The person in charge of Africa in the office is the embassy counselor Lucia Pasqualini, but with the statement issued yesterday and with the regret of the public, it seems as if the head of the office, Ambassador Talò, has taken full responsibility". / Pamphlet
