'Give a bullet to the forehead', Chechen leader orders police to shoot

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has issued orders to shoot protesters to prevent riots similar to Sunday night's anti-Israel riots in neighboring Dagestan.

The RIA Novosti news agency said Kadyrov had instructed the Interior Ministry and National Guard forces to stop anyone taking to the streets in the Muslim-majority republic of Chechnya in Russia's North Caucasus.

" Otherwise, fire three warning shots in the air, and if the person disobeys the law after that, fire the fourth blow to the forehead. No one else will come out [to protest]. That's my order," the Chechen leader said .

On his personal channel on the Telegram messaging app, Kadyrov warned that any public gatherings related to the Israeli-Hamas war would be "severely suppressed."

" We must not go along with Russia's enemies and undermine the situation from within. We must be above all this and maintain order in our land ," Kadyrov said.

Kadyrov echoed accusations made by other Russian officials, including President Vladimir Putin, blaming Sunday night's mob violence at an airport in Dagestan.

Law enforcement officials have since arrested more than 80 people on charges of organizing mass riots.

Anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian sentiments have risen in Russia's North Caucasus in the weeks since the militant group Hamas' deadly attack on Israel triggered a relentless Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip.
