Dramatic moments have been captured on security cameras at a store in Ohio, where a robbery suspect attempted to shoot a police officer twice, but his gun jammed.
The incident took place last Thursday and the footage shows the suspect, 21-year-old Shane Newman, sitting on a couch in a security room of the store, with a young girl next to him. The situation suddenly escalates when Newman pulls a gun from his waistband and points it at the police officer, while the girl next to him can be heard screaming in panic: "No, no, no!"

According to the footage, the 21-year-old pulls the trigger for the first time without firing. At that moment, a store employee jumps on him to disarm him, but Newman tries again, pulling the trigger a second time. This time too, the gun does not fire, for reasons that have not yet been clarified.
Thanks to the gun jamming, the police officer was able to neutralize the situation and arrest the suspect. Speaking later to his colleagues, the officer stated that Newman “pulled out the gun, pointed it at my head and pulled the trigger,” emphasizing the extreme danger of the moment.
He also revealed that he considered shooting the young man with his service weapon, but refrained from doing so out of fear that he might hit the store employee, who was trying to disarm the suspect. The officer added that seconds before the incident, he was informed that Newman had an active arrest warrant and was considered “armed and dangerous.”
Following his arrest, Shane Newman was formally charged with attempted murder and assault on a police officer, while investigations into the incident continue.
