Suella Braverman, secretary of state for internal affairs in the English government, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph, has spoken about the challenges in dealing with the new wave of immigrants arriving by raft.
She says that progress has been made in drastically reducing the number of Albanians arriving by raft during 2023.
"The Albanian government has proven to be a very constructive partner in facing this common challenge. The numbers are down. However, for us they remain high. I will not stop until the numbers are very, very low," she says.
After the weather improved in France, 12 rafts with 600 people arrived on the English coast on Saturday.
Despite the multiple efforts of the English government, which includes millions of pounds paid to France to stop the rafts, the number of arrivals this year so far is 20,700.
The figures show that the number of boat arrivals this year compared to the same period last year is 20% less.
