The Basic Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has launched an investigation into today's incident at the Serbian Parliament. At the request of the police, the necessary information is being collected, in which pyrotechnic devices and smoke bombs were thrown.
The prosecution indicates that the request was made with the aim of determining the perpetrators and to understand whether there are elements of a criminal offense, "serious offenses against general security."
The Serbian parliament was plunged into chaos when an opposition MP was prevented from speaking on the floor of the parliament. Government and opposition MPs clashed, while fireworks and smoke bombs were thrown into the chamber.
Despite the chaos and clashes, Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić continued the session, while announcing that a deputy who was hit by a smoke bomb is in a life-threatening condition. Deputy Jasmina Obradović was transported to the hospital after suffering a stroke.
