Spanish police have seized a record amount of drugs. From the action carried out in the Port of Algeciras by the Spanish authorities, an amount of 9.5 tons of cocaine was seized in plastic boxes.
The cocaine found in the containers with the father came from Ecuador. So far, no arrests have been reported.
"This operation was an unprecedented blow to one of the world's most important criminal organizations in the distribution of cocaine, targeting the main criminal networks in Europe," the statement said.
The boxes were marked with more than 30 different banana logos that matched the various European criminal networks that would receive the cocaine.
Police did not name the organization or criminal networks in Europe. The drugs were found on August 23 in a refrigerated container, police added.
The battle to crack down on criminal groups continues, warn Spanish authorities. While in 2018 the State security forces and troops also fought a fierce battle, where after more than 14,000 operations, there were over 13,400 arrests.
