French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo published a new cartoon depicting Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, in a satirical scene amidst ruins.

The illustration on the cover of the latest issue was created by cartoonist Laurent Sourisseau, known as "Riss", one of the survivors of the terrorist attack on the magazine's editorial office on January 7, 2015 in Paris.

The cover features a “funeral notice” with the text “Ali Khamenei, 1939–2026.” The cartoon depicts an open toilet on a pile of rubble, from which several elements alluding to the figure of the ayatollah are visible, including a gray turban and glasses.

The illustration style follows the magazine's provocative tradition, which for decades has published satirical cartoons commenting on political and religious figures around the world. Charlie Hebdo, founded in France as a satirical weekly, is known for its critical and often controversial approach to politics and religion.

The magazine has often been at the center of international controversy for its cartoons, particularly those depicting religious figures and political leaders. In 2015, its editorial office was the target of a terrorist attack in Paris, where 12 people were killed.

The publication of such cartoons continues to provoke strong reactions at the international level, sparking debate over the limits of freedom of expression and respect for religious figures.
