A US official said Russia's professional army did not do a better job of dealing with Wagner's troops as they moved into Rostov and then towards Moscow.
The official said that the most surprising part of everything that happened last night was the speed of the agreement that was reached on Saturday, which the Kremlin said was brokered by Belarus.
"I know we estimated it would be much more violent and bloody. But in the end there was no war for Moscow ," the official told CNN.
According to him, in the days before Wagner's march, American intelligence estimated that he would challenge the Russian leadership.
