Two days ago, the news of the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny shocked the world, with Western countries including the US blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Navalny died on Friday in the penal colony where he was being held by a sentence that was described as politically motivated.
His wife Yulia Navalnaya attended the Munich Security Conference saying that Putin and his allies must be held responsible for everything that happened to their family.
But who is Yulia Navalnaya and what do we know about the relationship with Navalny?
For years, Yulia, an economist and the so-called 'First Lady' of the Russian opposition, stood by her husband in his efforts to expose Kremlin corruption, appearing on his behalf in countless public appearances and calling on supporters to never give up even when Navalny was in prison.
She met Alexei Navalny in 1998 while on holiday in Turkey and the couple married just two years later.
Then Yulia gave birth to their two children, Dasha and Zakhar, specifically in 2001 and 2008.
