Lebanon is calling for direct negotiations with Israel and an immediate ceasefire to stop all Israeli land, air and naval aggression against Lebanon.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun also called for further logistical support for the country's armed forces, in order to reinforce their goal of disarming the militant group Hezbollah.
"And at the same time, Lebanon and Israel should begin direct negotiations under international sponsorship, with the aim of implementing the aforementioned plan. Whoever fired the missiles wanted to buy the collapse of the Lebanese, under attack and chaos, even if this came at the cost of destroying dozens of our villages and the downfall of hundreds of thousands of our people, all for the sake of the Iranian regime's calculations ," Aoun said in the statement.
The comments mark one of the strongest and most sweeping accusations against Hezbollah by a Lebanese leader to date. At least 394 people have been killed in Lebanon since Israel began its attacks on the country earlier this week.
