Iran steps up attacks

Explosions and air raid sirens were heard in Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv, as military escalation in the region continues following attacks and counterattacks between Iran, Israel and the United States.

CNN crews in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Israel reported hearing explosions and warning sirens from their offices. A network producer in Tel Aviv released video showing a shell hitting the ground amid alarm signals.

CNN reporters in the United Arab Emirates reported several explosions. "Several loud explosions" were heard in Dubai, while detonations were also reported in Abu Dhabi. In Doha, media staff saw rockets lighting up the night sky, while video clearly shows explosions in the distance.

Following Iran's retaliatory strikes on Saturday, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait decided to switch to distance learning starting Sunday and until further notice.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Education stated that, "due to the circumstances the country is going through and within the framework of the national responsibility for the safety of students and educational staff," the suspension of physical education at all levels has been decided for Sunday, March 1, 2026, and the transition to online learning.

The Education Ministries of Qatar and Bahrain issued similar announcements, clarifying that the measure applies to primary schools, public and private institutions, as well as universities.
