The United States released a video on Saturday showing military strikes on targets in Iran, including missiles launched from warships and aircraft striking Iranian force positions.
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation aims to neutralize threats to US interests and allies in the region. "The President ordered decisive action. CENTCOM forces are conducting a powerful and sustained strike. The operation is part of a coordinated campaign with Israel to strike Iran's offensive capabilities," the statement said.
The American portal Axios, citing Israeli sources, reported that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian were also targeted in the attacks. Israeli media reported that Revolutionary Guard commander Mohammad Pakpour and Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh were killed in the attacks.
According to the same sources, the missiles hit the Pasteur Street area in Tehran, as well as Keshavarz Boulevard, where several government institutions are located. The targets were the headquarters of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security, the Supreme Court building and Mehrabad Airport. Explosions were also reported in the holy city of Qom and in Isfahan, where one of the main nuclear plants with uranium enriched to 60% is located. Detonations were also recorded in Lorestan, Kermanshah, Karaj and Tabriz.
Tehran had warned of a "devastating war" in the event of an attack. The Revolutionary Guard announced the launch of Operation True Promise 4, saying it had struck the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain, as well as US bases in Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, in addition to military targets in Israel, with drones and ballistic missiles.
This is the first time the Islamic Republic has claimed to have simultaneously attacked all US bases in the region. In the past, Iran has carried out attacks that it has described as limited. In June, Tehran hit the Al Udeid air base in Qatar in response to Israeli and US attacks. According to reports, this base was hit again, along with the Ali Salem base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra in the Emirates and targets in Bahrain.
In Doha, authorities announced that Patriot air defense systems had intercepted the missiles launched. The level of concern also remains high among foreign communities, including thousands of Italian citizens who are in Qatar.
A loud explosion was also reported in Abu Dhabi, where media reported one person was killed by rocket fragments. Qatar, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates closed their airspace, while flights to and from Dubai were suspended.
Arab leaders are concerned that Iran could expand its targets, targeting not only US military bases but also energy infrastructure such as gas and oil plants, or even blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a key oil shipping route. They warn that further escalation or regime change in Iran could cause widespread instability in the region.
