Pope Francis has made a call for peace on Saturday, where he asked for an end to the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants, praying for the release of hostages, and the continuation of aid to the population in Gaza.
War is always a loss, declared the Head of the Holy See, to the faithful gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
"Once again my thoughts go to what is happening in Israel and Palestine. I am very worried and upset. I pray and am close to all those who are suffering; hostages, wounded, victims and their families.
I think about the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza and I am saddened that the Anglican hospital and the Greek Orthodox Church have been hit recently. I renew the call for the opening of the spaces so that aid can continue to enter Gaza and that the hostages can be released.
War, every war in the world, and I also think of the martyred Ukraine, is a defeat. War is always a loss. It is the destruction of human brotherhood. Brothers, stop! ", said the Pope.
