Kuwait's air defenses mistakenly shot down three US F15 fighter jets flying on Iran-related operations, the US Central Command (Centcom) said.
All six crew members of the plane that were safely ejected have recovered and are in stable condition, she said in a statement, which you can read in full here.
"During active combat that included attacks by Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles and drones - U.S. Air Force fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses," Centcom said, saying the three aircraft "were downed over Kuwait due to an apparent friendly fire incident."
Centcom added that the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
Donald Trump says US strikes will continue at "full force" until all targets are reached and will probably last four weeks and acknowledges there will "likely be more" casualties after three US soldiers were killed in an Iranian attack.
At least 555 Iranians have been killed inside the country since the start of hostilities, according to state media.
Vowing to avenge Khamenei's death, Iran's security chief said Tehran was not ready to negotiate with the US over its nuclear program. Iran said one of its nuclear facilities at Natanz had been targeted in the attacks, with the UN nuclear watchdog warning of possible "serious consequences."
A British base, RAF Akrotiri, in Cyprus has been hit by a drone attack. No injuries have been reported, but families are being evacuated from the base. Yvette Cooper, the foreign secretary, revealed that the attack hit the base's runway.
