Over 80 dead in Gaza, Witkoff: Trump has submitted a peace plan for the Middle

More than 80 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire around the Gaza Strip, most of them in Gaza City.

Women and children were among at least 20 victims recorded when an attack targeted a residential building and tents housing displaced families near the Firas market in the city center. Witnesses said heavy shelling hit the area while people were asleep.

The Israeli army claims to have hit two Hamas fighters and that the number of casualties does not match the information it has. Meanwhile, Israeli tanks and troops continue to advance towards the heart of the city, which Tel Aviv considers the last Hamas stronghold.

Hundreds of thousands of residents have already been evacuated from the coastal enclave's largest urban center, where a hunger crisis has been confirmed by a UN-backed body. But hundreds of thousands more remain there, in inhumane conditions, with vital services such as health care collapsing.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said on Tuesday that Israeli military vehicles were stationed outside the Al Quds hospital in Tal al-Hawa, and that an oxygen supply point had been damaged and put out of service by Israeli fire. As Netanyahu's war in Gaza shows no sign of abating, US special envoy Steve Witkoff said President Donald Trump had presented a 21-point plan for Middle East peace to a group of Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Witkoff did not provide details about the plan, but said it addressed Israeli concerns, as well as those of its neighbors in the region.
