Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum called on the United Nations on Tuesday to "fulfill its role" and prevent bloodshed in Venezuela, as tensions between the Latin American country and the United States escalate.
Sheinbaum said in a press conference that Mexico is against intervention and against foreign interference in Venezuela.
US President Donald Trump yesterday ordered a "complete and absolute blockade" of all sanctioned oil tankers moving to and from the Latin American country, in another escalation of the ongoing crisis between the two countries.
In response, the Venezuelan government rejected the US president's "grotesque military threat", calling it a "totally absurd" decision that hinders free trade and impedes freedom of navigation.
