The Ukrainian minister reveals the behind-the-scenes negotiations with Russia in
Dmitry Kuleba and Sergei Lavrov

"The hardest conversations are the ones where you feel like you want to go and punch the person in the face, but you can't."

This is the confession of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, referring to the negotiations between the high representatives of Kiev and Moscow in Antalya, two years ago, where his counterpart Sergei Lavrov was in front of him.

In an interview he gave to bloggers, during which he talked about many things, from cooking, hobbies to Ukrainian football, Kuleba has shown that on at least two occasions he would have liked to punch the Foreign Minister of Russia.

The head of Kyiv's diplomacy told these details when he was asked what were the most difficult negotiations he had to do in his career.

"I can say that it happened to me two or three times. One case was with Lavrov, in Antalya, in the spring of 2022," he confessed. At the time, Kouleba described the talks in Turkey as "difficult", mainly regarding the possibility of a ceasefire and the creation of humanitarian corridors.

So, his confessions were commented by the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, who said that they show that the Ukrainian leadership is completely unfit for this role.

"This is the problem: uneducated, aggressive people were allegedly recruited to serve as ministers, to destroy Ukraine for American money," Zakharova told Russian newspaper Izvestia.

According to her, Kuleba would be better off going to a ring for "wrestling for free", instead of continuing to lead the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
