The intense fighting of the Israeli armed forces against the militant group Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip will soon end, the Israeli Ministry of Defense announced.
"The intensive phase of the ground offensive south of the coastal enclave in the area of the city of Khan Younis will end soon ," said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
He said that at the end of this war there will be no military threat from Gaza.
"At the end of the war, there will be no military threat from Gaza. Hamas will not be able to control and function as a military force in the Gaza Strip, and the IDF will have complete freedom of action to do whatever is necessary to protect the citizens of Israel. It may take a long time, but it will end in total victory," added Gallant.
Among other things, he added that the period of fighting will end soon.
"Although the period of intense fighting will soon end, the armed forces must continue military pressure to secure the release of the remaining Israeli hostages in Gaza. If there is a ceasefire, the fate of the hostages will be sealed for many years in the captivity of Hamas" , the Israeli minister said among other things.
On the other hand, international pressure is constantly increasing on Israel to reduce the intensity of attacks and to prevent mass civilian casualties during attacks on the Gaza Strip. Washington has called on Israel to shift from heavy bombing to more targeted strikes against the militant group Hamas.
